lightkeeper under the blanket

the job interview went really, really well. but i didn't get it. it's okay because it would have conflicted with my last month of classes...not what i want if i'm going to graduate in june!!!

last night i had the very distinct pleasure of seeing my old friend ken on stage. he pretty much rocked. i loved hearing completely strangers laugh at his jokes and cheer him on. plus he opened for someone rather famous. awesome.

i may or may not get to see miss chutney tomorrow. that will be great if it works out.

dad just got back from his 10 days in brazil (tour of agricultural operations with my uncle, who is an ag professor at a big university). he says he had a fantastic time.

tonight i am meeting the boyfriend's daughters. we are going to watch disney and make pizza. i am really very nervous. although at least small children are generally non-judgmental and easily entertained. :)

i am still broke. selling the mattress barely made a dent...half the profits went to transporting it and feeding the driver/heavy lifting dudes. damn it. i wish money would fall out of the sky or something.

  • you still have the museum job, right? Just keep plugging away and something will turn up. Draw pictures for the little people...little people love when you draw pictures with them and then give them the pictures you made...they might give you the ones they drew...this has always been a good ice-breaker for me with the little people.

  • How did it go, meeting the boyfriend's daughters? How old are they? If you sold your mattress, what are you sleeping on now?

  • the daughters are 8 and 11. the pizza-making was really cool, i taught them a safer way to cut up peppers, and how to stretch the crust. they are really well-mannered, sweet kids and i had fun. :)

ah, the mattress. see, it was actually given to me for free--i foresaw potential resale! i have a futon with a nice stuffed mattress, but i've had the innerspring mattress on top of it since i moved in.

    i need a summer job....museum is only 10 hrs/wk.

  • oh yes, and i let the girls cut up a pair of my old jeans to make some shorts. and they did draw, and leave some of it here. they are going to be fashion designers, so mostly i have pictures of dresses.
